Global enforcements on bribery and corruption have been in the spotlight in recent years for many multinational companies (“MNCs”) over multiple jurisdictions. Very often, the real loss for MNCs is reputational damage as a result of being known to have been investigated and penalised for anti-bribery/corruption regulatory enforcements. In a closer view of the bribery and corruption landscape in the Asia Pacific region, according to Transparency International Index 2018, 31 countries in Asia Pacific attained a lower than average Corruption Perception Index, of which two countries were the worst performing in this region.
With many MNCs operating in Asia Pacific, the risk of bribery and corruption and potential regulatory enforcements are real and would be high on their risk management’s agenda.
Given this backdrop, Benjamin Ee from FTI Consulting (Singapore) will share his experience in the development of combating bribery and corruption in Asia Pacific, in particularly, enforcement trends and the use of technology in the investigation of bribery and corruption allegations.
