As Singapore shifts to become a digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI) has been identified as one of the frontier technologies to drive this shift, transforming and benefitting the way people live and work in Singapore. However, as with any emerging technology, AI introduces ethical, legal and governance challenges. These include risks of unintended discrimination as well as issues arising from consumers’ lack of knowledge on AI and decision-making.
To address these challenges, the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) released Asia’s first Model AI Governance Framework, and along with the Advisory Council on the Ethical Use of AI and Data and Research Programme on Governance of AI and Data Use, aims to help organisations deploy AI solutions in a responsible manner.
The talk by Ms Lee Wan Sie, Director of the Data Innovation Programme Office of IMDA, will focus on the objectives and guiding principles of the Model AI Governance Framework. She will further share how the Framework can help organisations deploying AI consider and implement measures to address potential risks within the organisation’s corporate governance, risk management, operations management and customer relationships.
