The concept of data analytics is not new to auditors. However, it has never been so pressing with stakeholders expecting internal audit to up their game, be digitally equipped and apply data analytics to achieve greater assurance and provide more timely insights. With increase technology and data availability, internal auditors are expected to leverage data and apply data analytics effectively.
In this Learn At Lunch session, the speakers will share their journey and practical examples which will hopefully equip you with practical takeaways you can immediately apply in your work. The examples provided will range from basic to intermediate data analysis/techniques rather than more advanced techniques involving complex coding/ machine learning.
About the Speakers
Ms. Sia Hwee Lay
Hwee Lay is responsible for the management of audit activities covering Public and Private Markets Investments in GIC Pte Ltd. Hwee Lay joined GIC in May 2016 and has over 20 years of experience within the financial services industry. Prior to joining GIC, she was the Audit Director in Bank of America Merrill Lynch managing audit activities covering Asia Pacific Global Markets businesses. She has also worked in the Internal Audit Department of ING Bank N.V. in Asia covering Wholesale and Private Banking businesses as well as KPMG serving financial services clients.
Hwee Lay holds a bachelor’s degree in accountancy from Nanyang Technological University. She is a Singapore Chartered Accountant and holds the Financial Risk Manager certification from the Global Association of Risk Professionals.
Ms. Josephine Liu
Josephine has been an internal auditor for global companies in the financial industry across banking and asset management. Spanning over 15 years of audit experience, most of that time was spent with Barclays and GIC covering public markets activities. In her current role with GIC, she is passionate in exploring data analytics possibilities and implementing data analytics in audits to provide insights and increased assurance. She is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore, Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist and holds a bachelor degree in Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University.
