From the turn of the century, social media began permeating society and now plays a significant part in almost every online interaction we have.
As social media becomes more and more prevalent, organisations and businesses from all industry sectors have begun utilising and integrating social media into business operations and processes, such as customer support and internal communications.
Unmitigated risks in these areas of business can cause significant reputational and financial damage. Therefore, internal audit teams must have an acute understanding and awareness of the ways organisations utilise social media, what risks arise as a result of enterprise usage of social media and how to effectively manage and mitigate these risks.
