Synopsis

As AI-driven tools become more integrated into audit and risk management, the true differentiator for professionals will not be how quickly they adopt technology but how effectively they apply critical thinking alongside it. AI can process vast amounts of data and highlight patterns, but it cannot interpret organisational culture, weigh reputational risks, or understand strategic context. That responsibility rests with internal auditors and risk managers. This webinar will explore how professionals can strengthen their critical thinking skills to provide oversight of AI tools, interpret outputs responsibly, and connect insights to organisational strategy and governance.

Mr. Gerard Toh, Partner, Audit, KPMG in Singapore, brings over 20 years of experience in governance, risk and compliance, external and internal audit, accounting, and risk advisory. He has a proven track record in guiding complex audits for large international groups across the financial services and healthcare sectors, and is widely recognised for helping organisations connect complex regulatory frameworks and governance strategies with business objectives, strengthening internal compliance and enhancing audit processes.

Gerard is a trusted advisor to boards and C-suites of leading assets managers and global banks. Part of his work involves providing consultations on regulatory compliance to SGX guidelines and capital market transactions, including various debt and equity offerings. Other areas he specialises in includes accounting standard changes, ESG reporting and finance function transformation.

Gerard has a Bachelor of Accountancy (First Class Honours) from Nanyang Technological University and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He is also a Chartered Accountant under the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants (ISCA). Gerard is also the Chair of the Audit and Risk Management Committee at the Health Promotion Board (HPB), contributing to public sector governance and oversight.
