(Live Streaming) AI in Assurance: Can You Trust It, Govern It, Defend It?

Synopsis

As AI moves from simple assistants into agentic systems capable of acting across a workflow, auditors face a new question: not just "can AI do this work," but "can this work be trusted, governed, and defended when challenged?"

This session walks through the AI Trust Stack — a five-layer framework moving from intelligence, to agents, workflow systems, professional context, and governance — to give audit and assurance professionals a practical lens for evaluating AI in their engagements. Rather than treating AI adoption as a technology decision, the session frames it as a defensibility decision: every AI-assisted conclusion in an audit file must ultimately be explainable, reviewable, and stand up to regulator or client scrutiny. With a few short example demonstrations also included, attendees will leave with a shared vocabulary for discussing AI risk and value with partners, clients, and regulators, and a checklist for assessing whether an AI tool or agent is actually audit-ready.

After seven years in audit and account executive roles at PwC in Melbourne, Sarah joined Caseware in 2009. Over the years, she has become extensively involved in both customer support and the development of software solutions for Asia Pacific audit and financial reporting customers.

She is now the Head of Solutions for APAC at Caseware and works closely with the senior product leadership team across the Caseware International network, sharing regional insights and requirements, and collaborating on future Caseware solution development and innovation. More recently, Sarah have been involved in the advancement of Caseware's powerful new AI technology, Caseware Verity.
