INTRODUCTION
The complexity of enterprise risk has changed, new risks have emerged, and managing it has become everyone’s responsibility.
The new Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO) Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Certificate Program offers you the unique opportunity to learn the concepts and principles of the updated ERM framework and to be prepared to integrate the framework into your organization’s strategy-setting process to drive business performance. Plus, you’ll earn up to 23 hours of CPE.
A combination of self-study pre-work and an in-person workshop provide the knowledge necessary to understand and apply COSO’s Enterprise Risk Management-Integrating with Strategy and Performance. The ERM Framework assists management and boards of directors with their respective duties for managing risk. It does so by explaining five easy-to-understand components that accommodate different viewpoints and operating structures, and enhance strategies and decision-making.
The program includes the following:
- Pre-work: One self-study (OnDemand) course that takes approximately 2 hours to complete. The goal of the online learning component is to provide to you with an introduction to key concepts of COSO’s 2017 Enterprise Risk Management-Integrating with Strategy and Performance and to allow you to begin thinking about the ERM Framework in the context of your own entity, which will prepare you for the group workshop. Examples are provided throughout the learning to illustrate the concepts presented.
- Live Training Program: Two and one-half days of group training
- Online Exam: Complete the exam at the date and time that works best for you within 90 days of finishing the learning program
- eBook of COSO’s Enterprise Risk Management-Integrating with Strategy and Performance: Use the eBook to reference the ERM framework directly
- Certificate and Digital Badge: You will receive a PDF certificate suitable for printing and framing and a digital badge that can be easily shared with your professional network
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Participants in this course will walk away with a solid understanding of the COSO Enterprise Risk Management Framework (2017). This course is intended for audit leaders looking to establish a COSO-based audit organization. It is also intended for auditors new to working in an established COSO-based audit organization. This course is also appropriate for team members who play a risk management role in entities of any size; consultants who provide advisory services related to enterprise risk management; board members who provide oversight of enterprise risk management. Participants who successfully complete this program are eligible to plus themselves by obtaining COSO Enterprise Risk Management Certificate - a wonderful addition to both your resume and LinkedIn profile.
Prerequisites: Participants should have exposure working with enterprise risk management (preferably at least 2-6 years' experience) and a basic level of exposure to COSO Enterprise Risk Management - Integrating with Strategy and Performance (the ERM framework).

- Recall key concepts included in the ERM Framework related to the information, communication, and reporting component, including relevant principles.
- Apply the concepts of the ERM Framework for the information, communication, and reporting component to a variety of situational examples.
A Case Application to Identify Performance Improvements in ERM
- Recall concepts included in the ERM Framework.
- Apply concepts from the ERM Framework to the situational case presented.
Please note that only participants who completed the online self-study and instructor-led virtual training will be eligible to sit for the exam. After the conclusion of the instructor-led virtual training session, an email with a link to the online exam will be sent to the individual participant within 1 week. Participants have up to 90 days from the date they receive the exam to complete it. The exam is timed to be completed within 1.5 hours (i.e. window will close automatically). If participants do not achieve a passing score, they will receive a link to retake the exam. Retake must be completed within a month from receipt.
ABOUT THE TRAINER
Ms Tan Boon Yen is a Senior Director RSM Singapore with extensive experience in governance, risk and consulting work. She has conducted and led many financial, operational and compliance audits in listed and multinational groups in various regional industries including container shipping, precision engineering, property, printing and publishing, retail, disk drive and semiconductor manufacturing, trading, distribution, banking, technology, electronics and marine businesses. She also has extensive experience audit projects overseas in countries such as Malaysia, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Taiwan, India, USA, Europe and Australia.
Prior to RSM Singapore, she has worked with Singapore Technologies Pte Ltd, Seagate International, Sembawang Shipyard, TNT Express Worldwide, Neptune Orient Lines and Deloitte.
Ms Tan holds a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree from the National University of Singapore and is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore, a Certified Internal Auditor and also holds a Certification in Risk Management Assurance. Boon Yen is the immediate Past President of The Institute of Internal Auditors Singapore (IIAS).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
- Contact person will be notified via email upon successful registration of the participants. The seminar details would be sent to the registered participants one week prior to the seminar.
- Registration fee must be received prior to the date of the seminar.
- Registered participants will be liable for the full registration fee in the event of non-attendance on the date of the seminar.
- Cancellation must be submitted in writing to the Academy team at iia-academy@iia.org.sg at least 7 working days prior to the seminar and subject to IIA Singapore's approval. A processing fee of $100 per participant will be imposed for any cancellation. Substitutions will be permitted and conditions will apply. You may substitute a “like” person to attend the seminar in your place – for example, if you are an IIA Singapore member, you may substitute with another IIA Singapore member.
- IIA Singapore reserves the right to revise the seminar programme as necessary.
