Committees and Work Groups

Executive Committee

  • Provide guidance on policies and the development of organisational goals to raise the Institute’s capability to deliver quality service.
  • Long term strategic planning including financial sustainability, capability and capacity building to achieve the Institute’s mission.
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of adequate controls for safeguarding the funds.
  • Maintain, review, and approve financial, budgetary, and contractual policies and procedures; review all financial reports of the Institute.
  • Ensure financial sustainability and review.
  • Review and approve significant capital and project expenditure.

Audit Committee

  • Provide assistance to the Board of Governors in fulfillment of their oversight responsibilities for the Institute's financial reporting process, system of internal control and regulatory compliance management processes.
  • Review audit plan, evaluate internal accounting controls and auditor’s report.
  • Review the scope and results of internal audit procedures.
  • Shall recommend to the Board retention and termination of the Independent auditors.
  • May negotiate the compensation of the auditor on behalf of the Board.
  • Ensure that the Independent auditors has the requisite skill and experience to carry out the auditing function for the Institute and its performance is carefully reviewed.
  • Not in Terms of Reference, but in practice, Audit Committee will be presented with the Institute’s annual self-risk assessment.

Nomination Committee

  • Review the nominations for members of the Board of Governors and assess the suitability of the nominated candidates or otherwise.
  • Review and take into consideration the diversity of the Board of Governors members in terms of industry and sector representation.
  • Review the appointment of the Office Bearers i.e., President, 2 Vice-Presidents, Secretary and Treasurer.

C-Suite and Audit Committee Engagement

  • Promote the awareness and understanding of the role of internal auditors in driving governance, risk management, and organisational resilience.
  • Advocate for the value of internal audit as a strategic partner in performance and assurance.
  • Strengthen relationships and dialogue with internal audit and stakeholders with ongoing dialogue on governance expectations, audit committee needs, and emerging business risks.
  • Provide thought leadership position papers and presentations on topics of interest to Audit Committees and Boards. Share insights on best practices in audit committee–internal audit interactions, reporting, and assurance alignment.
  • Enhancing communication, stakeholder management, and influencing skills when engaging with senior management and boards.
  • Engage with professional associations (e.g., SID, ISCA), regulators, and governance institutions to promote the internal audit profession.

CAE and Professional Development

  • To develop the pool of active CAEs in IIAS.
  • Advance the awareness and adoption of the GIAS and the IPPF, including the topical requirements and recommended guidance by internal auditors and stakeholders.
  • Advance the profession in accordance with the Vision 2035 report.
  • Promote internal audit best practices and sharing among members.
  • Advocate for the profession by engaging stakeholders.
  • Reinforce internal audit’s role in governance, risk, and control by engaging with boards, audit committees, and senior management.

Financial Services Internal Audit

  • Promote professional excellence by advancing the GIAS and the IPPF and benchmarking with quality assurance with financial sector internal auditors and stakeholders.
  • Strengthen regulatory and industry alignment by facilitating dialogue with regulators, industry bodies, and practitioners for alignment with supervisory expectations and best practices.
  • To advance training and industry best practices in data analytics, technology, AML, and other relevant areas for the financial services internal audit community.
  • Strengthen understanding of internal audit’s contributions to organisational resilience and trust with internal auditors and stakeholders.
  • Advance thought leadership by conducting research, sharing insights, and publishing guidance on emerging trends, risks, and technologies relevant to financial services auditing.

Public Sector Internal Audit

  • Collaborate with AGD to advance the internal audit profession in the public sector.
  • Implement and interpret the GIAS, IPPF and topical requirements, including guidance and quality assurance in a public sector context.
  • Facilitate the sharing of local best practices with international best practices by identifying suitable speakers and organisations to collaborate.
  • Discussing emerging issues: cybersecurity, data governance, sustainability, and public trust.

Technology

  • Champion Technology Adoption in internal audit by promoting the adoption of digital tools, data analytics, robotic process automation (RPA), and AI-enabled solutions to enhance audit efficiency and insights, and to support digital transformation of the internal audit function.
  • Promote effective communication through visualisation and storytelling to engage stakeholders.
  • Advance cybersecurity and technology risk assurance by strengthening understanding and capabilities in auditing cybersecurity frameworks, resilience, data governance, and IT controls; and guide the evaluation of technology risk management practices within organisations.
  • Promote AI governance and emerging risk oversight by guiding internal auditors on AI governance, model risk, ethical use of data, and responsible AI practices.
  • Identify, assess, and communicate new risk areas associated with emerging technologies, including generative AI, agentic AI, cloud computing, blockchain, tokenisation, Web 3.0, and the Internet of Things (IoT), to internal auditors and stakeholders.
  • Build capacity and thought leadership through capacity-building initiatives, thought leadership, and collaboration with regulators, industry partners, and academia to shape discourse on technology and internal audit.

Young Professionals and Students

  • Provide guidance and mentoring to young professionals and students, including professional development.
  • Promote awareness of internal audit as a career among students and early-career professionals.
  • Support initiatives that encourage learning, skill development, and professional growth (e.g. IIA Singapore Inter-University Internal Audit Case Study Competition).
  • Offer insights and input to the Young Professionals Work Group to help design programmes that meet the needs of young members.

Young Professionals Work Group

  • Plan and execute programmes and activities that engage young professionals and students.
  • Encourage participation and promote membership through outreach and activities.
  • Promote awareness of internal audit developments within the young professional and student community.
  • Maintain an active network of young professionals and students with shared professional and social interests.
