The Internal Audit Excellence Award honours publicly-listed companies that have put in place effective internal audit functions that enhance corporate governance. This award was launched as part of the SIAS Investors' Choice Awards in year 2011 by IIA Singapore, Securities Investors' Association (Singapore) and Sim Kee Boon Institute at Singapore Management University. |

What is the Internal Audit Excellence Award?
The Internal Audit Excellence Award (IAEA) was launched in year 2011 to honour and recognise public-listed companies that have put in place an effective internal audit function to enhance corporate governance, risk management and internal controls. IAEA 2015 is an Investors' Choice Awards presented on 16 October 2015 during the dinner presentation ceremony.
How do companies participate in the award?
Invitations were sent to companies that were shortlisted for the year’s Singapore Corporate Governance Award. To be in the running for IA Excellence Award, the company’s Head of IA will have to complete the IA Excellence Survey Questionnaire, and the company’s Audit Committee Chairman, CEO and External Audit Partner are required to complete the IA External Perceptions Surveys.
How are the winners selected?
Companies with the most effective internal audit process are shortlisted through the following processes:
- Stage 1
The average of the latest 3 years' aggregate scores of Governance and Transparency Index (GTI), which assesses the financial transparency of companies based on their annual announcements, is used to identify this year's top 200 companies. - Stage 2
The top 200 companies are further compared against the Internal Audit Disclosure Guide complied by NUS Business School for SAC on the ideal amount of disclosure with regards to the Internal Audit function in their annual reports. - Stage 3
The final 20 shortlisted companies complete a set of questionnaires; results are tabulated and scored by a SIAS research analyst. - Final Stage
Selection Committee Members meet to decide the winners based on the quantitative results and qualitative inputs.
