Annual Conference 2022
Themed “Anticipating and Mitigating Risks in an Era of Disruption”, IIA Singapore flagship Annual Conference was held on 4 November 2022 at Sands Expo and Convention Centre at Marina Bay Sands. More than 300 internal audit professionals and industry leaders from Singapore and globally turned up for the event.
This year’s conference programme was refreshed to include breakout sessions and featured 32 speakers and panellists. It included a combination of leadership and technical topics encompassing environmental, social and governance (ESG); cybersecurity; talent management; inflation and supply chain risks; and future-proofing internal audit. Sally-Anne Pitt, Senior Vice-Chair, Global Board of Directors, The IIA was the keynote speaker who outlined the key issues currently shaping the internal audit profession. She also shared the latest developments on topics like ESG and cybersecurity and what The IIA is doing to prepare practitioners and advance the profession’s interests in these areas.
In his speech, Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Finance and Transport who was the Guest-of-Honour said, “A good risk culture and strong governance are essential, as organisations pursue new opportunities or overcome challenges with speed and agility. Internal auditors have an important role to strengthen risk management practices, by having a good understanding of operational and policy requirements and supporting your colleagues in the organisation to identify the key risks and calibrate the risk tolerance levels.” Read his full speech here.
The Institute achieved a major milestone with the launch of the “Guide to Internal Review of Sustainability Report” and training at the event. With the guide and training, internal auditors will be better equipped to advance Singapore’s sustainability efforts while enhancing trust. The guide can be downloaded here.
The event concluded with an appreciation dinner, hosted by the Institute’s President Koh Ching Beng, for all speakers and sponsors at the db Bistro & Oyster Bar.
