Public Services Internal Audit Conference 2025

Held on 8 May 2025 during Internal Audit Month, the Public Services Internal Audit Conference brought together over 270 professionals at One Farrer Hotel to explore the theme “Navigating Complexity in an Evolving Dynamic Risk Landscape.” Organised with the support of strategic partners – the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Accountant-General’s Department, and Civil Service College – the conference featured a distinguished lineup of speakers, moderators, and panellists from Singapore, Switzerland, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates. The sessions provided valuable perspectives on emerging and critical topics, including artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, leadership, governance, and organisational culture.

David Toh, Vice President of IIA Singapore, opened the conference with a welcome address that highlighted the profession’s need to shift from hindsight to foresight. He emphasised the importance of leveraging tools such as AI to anticipate and manage emerging risks – a message that resonated throughout the day’s discussions. Speakers underscored the need for collaboration and innovation in navigating today’s complex risk landscape and stressed the vital role of leadership and culture in building organisational resilience. These themes were particularly relevant to the public sector, where trust and transparency are paramount. Participants shared positive feedback about the conference, with many noting the insightful sharing and the well-curated lineup of speakers who addressed various aspects of the theme.

IIA Singapore also had a booth to promote Internal Audit Month initiatives. These included a 10% discount on courses in May, 25% off new application and exam fees for the Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) and Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) programmes, and a waiver of the membership application fee.

The event was supported by sponsors, Archer and KPMG in Singapore, and exhibitors, DataSnipper and Wolters Kluwer, which had booths onsite to showcase their solutions.

As the public sector continues to adapt to complex and shifting demands, the conference reinforced the internal audit profession’s critical role in strengthening governance and advancing public confidence.
