Looking Back and Looking Forward

I had the privilege of penning the very first blog on the IIA Singapore Blog back in August 2021, and now, in my first month as the Immediate Past President, I appreciate the opportunity to share my thoughts once again.

Initially, I contemplated the idea of listing the key milestones achieved during my term, as it is often the norm. However, I had second thoughts. Is this truly useful or necessary? Much like my belief that internal auditors should not be solely judged by the number of audit findings raised, there is no need to recap all these milestones. They are readily available in our past Annual Reports and Annual General Meetings.

If I did not meet your expectations during my tenure, I welcome your input and suggestions for improvement. Your feedback is greatly appreciated as we strive for continuous growth and progress.

From the feedback I have received, what matters most is that IIA Singapore has grown and improved in all aspects. This is due to your contributions, in one way or another. I have every confidence that the new IIA Singapore President and his teams will continue to elevate the Institute. I urge you to extend your support to them as you have to me.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to all those who assisted me during my term, even during the challenging Covid era that is still fresh in our minds:

  • Firstly, the IIA Singapore Secretariat, both past and present. We could not have achieved what we set out to do without your dedication and hard work. Your contributions are invaluable.
  • My fellow Executive Committee members - Goh Chin Yee, Tan Suan Ee, Debbie Goh, Simon Ong, Jonathan Ho, and Tan Boon Yen.
  • Fellow past and present Governors.
  • Everyone who extended a helping hand, whether it was in terms of financial support, time, knowledge, or resources. I am eternally grateful for your support and assistance.

This has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am deeply honoured to have had the opportunity to give back to an industry that has given me so much. Rest assured, I will still be around, continuing to contribute, though in a different role. Thank you for being a part of this journey with me.
