IA Mentorship Mid-way Review Session 2017

On 3 August 2017, 10 mentors and mentees from the IIA Singapore-SAC IA Mentorship Programme came together to share about the experiences and challenges faced during their mentorship journey. The session was facilitated by Mr. Patrick O' Brien, Managing Director of The Amanuenses Network Pte Ltd, who was also the professional facilitator of the Mentorship Programme.

Mentors consisted of experienced Chief Audit Executives (CAE) who volunteered their time to provide knowledge, guidance and support for aspiring CAE and internal auditors. While each mentor came with his/her own style of engaging the mentee, there was consensus amongst all that developing a relationship of trust and building rapport were key ingredients to a successful and effective mentoring relationship.

After the candid sharing of the mentoring journeys, Mr O’Brien suggested for mentors to actively listen to mentees and pose targeted questions that could help them overcome real challenges. In this way, mentees would be able to develop and progress in their profession, bringing them closer to their full potential.
