Leading in a time of Covid-19
The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a shift in how the internal audit functions operate within businesses. Internal audit must revisit its role within business continuity efforts and how the organisation is addressing the threats and uncertainties of today.
IIA Singapore organised a webinar, “Leading in a time of Covid-19” on 21 July 2020 where four Chief Audit Executives from various industries shared their insights and experiences on the impact of Covid-19 in reshaping the way internal audit work is being performed within their organisations. The webinar saw over 160 registrations from Singapore and the region including Australia, Korea, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.
The webinar focused on three key areas:
- The impact of Covid-19 on the business;
- Changes to internal audit priorities and shift in audit approach to remote auditing; and
- Stepping up on communications with remote internal audit teams
The panellists shared how as the Covid-19 pandemic continues to evolve, internal audit has an important role to play within the organisation and has the opportunity to look at a number of creative ways to support the organisation and its teams. With uncertainties in the business environment and emerging risk, an agile approach allows internal audit to better prioritise and adjust activities based on the risks.
This is the time for internal auditors to think outside the box and see how internal audit can be as efficient and productive as possible with audits, assessments or reviews, and remain safe at the same time.
Thank you to the four panellists and moderator for participating in the webinar.
