Financial Sector Internal Audit Conference 2022
Themed “Internal Audit at the Frontier of Transformation”, the 2nd Financial Sector Internal Audit (FSIA) Conference was held on 14 July 2022 at the Marina Bay Sands. In the current environment of an evolving risk landscape, this conference provided an ideal forum for dynamic discussion and input from all angles on what the internal audit of the future might look like and how to prepare for it. Helmed by an esteemed panel of 16 speakers, the conference covered topics of focus, including sustainability, financial crimes, cryptocurrency, emerging technology and strategic leadership. Besides learning how to prepare for industry changes arising from new regulations and technological disruption, the participants also gained new perspectives on what is required to take their internal audit functions beyond providing assurance to becoming a trusted advisor to key stakeholders.
In her welcome address to over 160 participants, Goh Chin Yee, Chairperson of the FSIA Conference Taskforce and Vice President of IIA Singapore spoke about the importance for internal audit to embrace innovation, collaborate and adopt an agile mindset in order to support the transformation process from beginning to end. She said that “the pandemic has been, and continues to be, a learning experience for us all. As internal auditors, it is our responsibility when it comes to managing risks to learn from the experiences and incorporate these lessons into the current processes so that we are prepared for whatever comes next.”
