SMU & IIA Singapore Internal Audit Forum

In collaboration with the Singapore Management University (SMU), IIA Singapore organised an internal audit forum held on 13 October 2022 at SMU’s Ngee Ann Kongsi Auditorium. Attended by over 160 IIA Singapore members and students from SMU and other universities, the focus of the forum was on digital transformation and the opportunities that internal audit can seize from the disruptions. Goh Chin Yee, Vice President of IIA Singapore said in her welcome address, “As internal auditors, we play an important role in helping our organisations adapt and thrive in the face of change. To do so, internal auditors need to be future ready. That means an internal audit function that is agile, technologically savvy, and future-focused.”

Derrick Goh, Managing Director and Group Head of Audit, DBS Bank gave a presentation of Group Audit’s journey in reimaging internal audit through agile auditing, data analytics and transformational leadership. He examined how the internal audit function in DBS has adapted and responded to the changing digital landscape in its mission to enhance and protect organisational value. “We must be bold in thought and courageous in shedding traditional approaches to shape the internal audit of tomorrow. By transforming, internal teams can continue to play a critical role in organisations, and add value to society,” said Derrick.

The presentation was followed by an “In Conversation” comprising Derrick, Marcus Ng (APAC Chief Auditor, Citi) and Sepalika Kulasekera (General Manager, Group Internal Audit, Keppel Corporation) who shared their thoughts and views on their digitalisation journey. The session was moderated by SMU Professor Foo See Liang.
