Building a Successful Career in Internal Audit
Back by popular demand, IIA Singapore Young Professionals Working Group (YPWG) organised part 2 of the popular panellist series, “Building a Successful Career in Internal Audit” on 30 June 2022. Moderated by YPWG member, Victor Wong, participants had the opportunity to hear and find out how to become a value-driven strategic player for the organisation from three Governors, Koh Chin Beng (Partner, Risk Advisory, BDO Advisory), Stephen Ching (Group Head, Internal Audit, Singapore Technologies Engineering) and Debbie Goh (Senior Vice President, Group Internal Audit, Fraser & Neave Group) who come from different industry backgrounds. Not only must internal auditors possess a diverse portfolio of soft skills as much as technical audit skills, they also need to stay on top of company and industry trends. The panellists also stressed the importance of upskilling and be open to learning new skills and tools to help their organisations manage known and unknown risks.
The role of internal audit is expanding beyond traditional activities to encompass being a business partner who helps the organisation navigate the intersection of strategy and operations. It is exciting and rewarding to be a partner in an environment of constant and rapid change.
