47th Annual General Meeting

IIA Singapore held its 47th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 18 October 2023 at NUSS Suntec City Guild House, a well-attended gathering with over 70 of our valued members. This event was not only an opportunity for the Board of Governors to connect with our members but also marked a significant transition in leadership. Notably, it was the last AGM presided over by Koh Chin Beng as the President of the Institute.

During the AGM, our members were provided with an insightful snapshot of the key accomplishments of the Institute for FY2022/2023. The presentation also highlighted the noteworthy initiatives that were successfully delivered over the past year, showcasing our commitment to excellence.

One of the key highlights of the AGM was the election of Stephen Ching (Senior Vice President, Group Head, Internal Audit, Singapore Technologies Engineering) as the new President of IIA Singapore. We also welcomed four new members to the Board of Governors:

  • Freddie Chew, Vice President, Internal Audit of Capitaland Investment Limited
  • Serah Lin, Director, Ethics and Compliance (Asia Pacific), Nike Global Trading B.V
  • Cherrie Ong, Executive Director, Group Audit, United Overseas Bank
  • Gary Teo, Growth Markets Internal Audit Director, Accenture

In addition to these new appointments, six members were re-elected to the Board, ensuring continuity in our leadership. Former President Koh Chin Beng will remain involved as an ex-officio member of the Board, taking on the role of Immediate Past President.

Our 16-member Board of Governors for FY2023/2024, is as follows:

President  : Stephen Ching
Vice Presidents  : Debbie Goh and Simon Ong
Secretary : Nicodemus Tan
Treasurer : David Toh
Governors : Vincent Cheang, Freddie Chew, Koh Wei Chern, Norman Kuik, Serah Lin, Antonio Martinez, Cherrie Ong, Jennifer Ong, Daryl Pereira and Gary Teo
Immediate Past President : Koh Chin Beng

Furthermore, one member, Sia Nam Chie, was conferred the title of Honorary member.

Tokens of Appreciation were presented by Koh Chin Beng to outgoing Board members, Goh Chin Yee, Tan Suan Ee, and Tan Boon Yen. Unfortunately, Raj Bux was unable to attend to receive the token of appreciation, but we extend our gratitude to him.

Certificates of Appreciation were also presented to the FY2022/2023 Board for their commitment and contributions to the Institute’s initiatives.

The event concluded with a lucky member winning a pass to our Annual Conference in 2024. We look forward to seeing our members continue to engage and thrive within our community.

IIA Singapore extends its appreciation to all members, past and present leaders, and everyone who contributes to our collective success.
