IIA Singapore YPWG Xchange Night
IIA Singapore Young Professionals Working Group (YPWG) hosted its very first in-person professional event, the Xchange Nite, on 12 May 2023. This special networking session brought together 31 members and friends at Nalati Restaurant, located in the heart of the central business district.
The event kicked off with an opening address by Koh Chin Beng, President of IIA Singapore, who encouraged attendees to enjoy the session and extend their support to future events organised by IIA Singapore YPWG. Natalie Goh, the event organiser, set the tone by emphasising the purpose of the gathering—to foster exchange and mutual learning. She urged young professionals to approach the evening with an open mind, embracing diverse experiences and perspectives regardless of seniority.
To break the ice and foster connections, participants engaged in a delightful game of BINGO, creating a unique opportunity for everyone to learn about each other's experiences and forge connections. Three lucky winners were rewarded with tokens of appreciation from IIA Singapore.
The evening progressed with two rounds of interactive exchanges, where attendees split into smaller groups based on their topic of interest. Engaging discussions took place on various subjects, including audit tools and methods, data analytics, sustainability, technology risk, and career progression. As the event drew to a close, participants reflected on the impactful networking session. Feedback received from participants included “I love the sharing between different people—a good mixture of opinions and insights.", “I found the discussion on the sustainability topic interesting, and I learned a lot from the experiences shared by internal auditors using data analytics." and "I obtained great advice, such as the importance of jotting down important information (whether it's from lessons or clients), and I also learned how flowcharts can be amazing tools for structuring processes."
Olivia Loke, Chairperson for 2023 of IIA Singapore YPWG, wrapped up the event by expressing gratitude to all participants and encouraging them to nurture the new friendships formed during the session.
IIA Singapore YPWG remains committed to organising more events in the future, aiming to create an inclusive and supportive space for young professionals to learn, grow, and explore new horizons. Stay tuned for upcoming events, and let's continue this journey together.
