Internal Audit: Innovate or Risk Being Irrelevant

Change is being driven by advances in technology and the use of data. Innovation changes the business model and, as a result, the organisation’s risks. Internal audit needs to respond to these organisational changes in order to ensure it can help manage risk and drive value in the new paradigm. Internal auditors must adapt, evolve, and transform before becoming irrelevant.

Close to 300 participants attended the webinar, “Internal Audit: Innovate or Risk Being Irrelevant” conducted by Daniel Lebel, President of CIA International Inc on 13 April 2023. During the talk, Daniel shared his insights on how internal auditors should start thinking differently so as to take their functions to new frontiers of performance. He said that internal audit must be Strategic, Collaborative, Creative and Different in order to meet the expectations of stakeholders and stay relevant. His presentation covers these key areas:

  1. A value-creating vision of internal audit.
  2. Opportunities for intervention that go beyond the traditional model.
  3. Tools for innovation in the planning, execution, and reporting of internal audit projects.
