On 8 February 2024, IIA Singapore hosted a webinar titled "Auditing While Asleep: Implementing a Continuous Audit Programme", with over 240 participants from Singapore and the region. The session, led by Michael Ngoi, Senior Implementation Manager at Diligent, delved into the transformative landscape of continuous audit techniques.
Michael’s presentation offered an understanding of how continuous assurance revolutionises auditing, providing a dynamic and proactive approach to risk management. During the session, participants gleaned key takeaways to strategically position internal audit as an advantage. These included the provision of assurance over critical organisational risks through risk prioritisation and automated handling of traditional risks like financial and compliance. The importance of delivering valuable insights by seamlessly connecting data across systems, processes, and teams was emphasised. Furthermore, participants learned about enhancing internal audit efficiency and expanding assurance coverage with existing resources through digitalisation.
The engaging Q&A session that followed allowed participants to interact directly with the speaker, fostering an enriching learning environment. The event underscored the importance of embracing continuous assurance in the face of evolving risks and highlighted the role of technology in reshaping the future of internal auditing.
