Risk in Focus 2024

Over 230 participants from Singapore, Australia, Brunei, New Zealand, and Taiwan attended the "Risk in Focus 2024" webinar on 18 January 2024. Speaker Dr Sia Nam Chie presented the first global Risk in Focus report, with a specific focus on the Asia-Pacific region. The session provided practical, data-driven research to help internal auditors and stakeholders understand the current risk environment and prepare audit plans for the year ahead.

The webinar delved into the complexities of risks in the Asia-Pacific region, highlighting the high economic and political interconnections between countries. Internal auditors gained insights into the impact of various risks on their teams and strategies for the future. Four dominant risks were identified in the risk landscape for Asia Pacific in 2024: Cybersecurity, business continuity, human capital, and market changes. Looking ahead to 2027, Chief Audit Executives anticipate that cybersecurity will remain the biggest risk, with digital disruption leaping into second place. Climate change is also expected to pose significantly increased risks.

The interactive session saw engaged participants raising a diverse range of questions, fostering a collaborative environment for knowledge exchange. The "Risk in Focus 2024" webinar has empowered internal auditors to make informed decisions and better prepare for the challenges that lie ahead.
