Future Ready Internal Audit Function - Transition to Global Internal Audit Standards, Role of Automation and AI
On 10 April 2025, over 330 professionals attended the “Future Ready Internal Audit Function - Transition to Global Internal Audit Standards, Role of Automation and AI” webinar, organised by IIA Singapore. The presentation was led by Rohit Nayak, Principal Solution Designer – APAC, and Ong Lih Chin, Principal Client Success Advisor from Diligent, who shared how technology, automation, and AI are reshaping the internal audit landscape.
A key focus of the webinar was the transition to the Global Internal Audit Standards, which play an essential role in aligning internal audit functions with modern business needs. The speakers discussed the challenges and opportunities organisations face as they move towards these Standards, emphasising how adopting innovative technologies will be critical to driving efficiency and enhancing governance frameworks in the audit process.
The webinar also highlighted the growing role of data analytics, automation, and AI in internal audit. These technologies are transforming how risks and controls are managed, enabling organisations to adopt more strategic, data-driven approaches to auditing. Data analytics is becoming indispensable in proactively identifying and mitigating risks, while automation tools are streamlining processes, improving report accuracy, and enhancing transparency in governance.
A live demonstration of an AI tool showcased its potential to enhance audit efficiency, illustrating how automation can not only simplify tasks but also improve decision-making by providing real-time insights. This demonstration helped attendees visualise how these technologies can be implemented to support smarter, faster audit processes.
As the landscape continues to evolve, internal audit functions must remain agile and responsive to emerging challenges. Understanding the potential of emerging technologies will be key to staying ahead of the curve and reshaping the future of internal audit.
