Mandai Boardwalk Hike with IIA Singapore YPWG
To round off Internal Audit Month 2025, the IIA Singapore Young Professionals Working Group (YPWG) organised a Saturday morning hike on 31 May 2025 along the newly opened Mandai Boardwalk. The event brought together 23 participants from diverse professional backgrounds for a refreshing 2.7km walk along the scenic waterfront trail.
Designed to foster connections beyond the workplace, the event offered participants the chance to unwind, recharge, and meet others in the profession in a relaxed outdoor setting. The morning began with welcome remarks by YPWG Vice Chair Chaitanya Muthaiyan, who shared the working group’s mission and spoke about how IIA Singapore membership supports the growth of young professionals and future practitioners.
Each participant received a goodie bag with drinks, snacks, ponchos and wipes, a thoughtful touch that ensured everyone was ready for the walk, come rain or shine. The route offered tranquil views of water and woodland, which set the tone for meaningful conversations along the way.
After the hike, participants gathered for breakfast at Inuka Café and a light-hearted photo contest, where we celebrated the creativity of our community.
Congratulations to the winners:
- Best Nature Shot – Christopher Wang
- Best Reflections Shot – Tiong Zi Xuen
- Most Creative Group Shot – Pradeep Sundar Raj
Prizes were presented by YPWG Advisors Gary Teo and Serah Lin, who also joined the walk in support of the group’s activities.
The event was warmly received, with participants sharing that they had a great time connecting with fellow auditors and expanding their networks. Others described it as “a great initiative to connect with professionals” and a chance to “get to know the young professionals” while “feeling the pulse of the internal audit profession”.
In his closing remarks, Derick Du, Chair of YPWG, thanked everyone for making time to be part of the event and encouraged continued engagement with upcoming YPWG initiatives.
The hike was made possible through the strong support of the YPWG Organising Committee – Derick Du, Chaitanya Muthaiyan, and Natalie Tan whose planning and teamwork ensured a smooth and engaging experience for all. Appreciation also goes to YPWG Advisors Gary Teo and Serah Lin for their continued guidance and presence at the event.
