Stay Ahead with InsightXchange: Cybersecurity In Focus
On 27 May 2025, 20 members from IIA Singapore gathered for the inaugural InsightXchange session, an initiative designed to foster peer-to-peer learning and connect members with subject matter experts. The session focused on cybersecurity, a critical and rapidly evolving risk area for internal auditors and risk professionals navigating today’s complex threat landscape.
The event began with Sunita Kaur, Technical Director of IIA Singapore introducing the InsightXchange initiative, emphasising its goal to create an interactive platform where members can exchange practical insights and experiences directly relevant to their audit work. To encourage open dialogue and meaningful sharing, the session was intentionally limited to a small group of participants. This peer-learning approach aims to complement traditional training by fostering collaboration and discussion among members and subject matter experts.
The session’s speaker, Bernard Tan, Director of Technology Consulting at Protiviti Singapore and an EXCO Board Member at ISACA Singapore Chapter, delivered a presentation on the Defense-in-Depth Audit Strategy. Bernard provided a practical framework for assessing cybersecurity controls across multiple layers of defence, helping participants gain an understanding of how to identify gaps and strengthen audit coverage in their organisations.
Following Bernard’s presentation, participants joined breakout rooms to discuss practical challenges encountered during audit fieldwork and tools or methodologies used for assessing cybersecurity risks.
The InsightXchange initiative aims to provide members with opportunities to learn from one another and from experts in the field. Future sessions will continue to offer practical insights on relevant topics to support members in their professional development.
