50th Annual General Meeting
IIA Singapore’s 50th Annual General Meeting, held on 28 October 2026 at Holiday Inn Singapore Atrium, brought members together for an evening of Institute updates, Board appointments and recognition, followed by dinner and networking.
In his opening address, President David Toh reflected on the changing demands on internal audit. Geopolitical uncertainty, evolving regulations, cybersecurity and AI are reshaping the risks organisations face, while expectations of internal auditors are growing beyond assurance to include forward-looking insights, constructive challenge and support for organisational resilience. As IIA Singapore enters its next 50 years, he emphasised that the Institute’s responsibility is not simply to respond to change, but to help shape the future of the profession.
Executive Director Richard Dyason provided an overview of the Institute’s work over the past financial year. Highlights included the IIA International Conference 2026, co-hosted with IIA Global in Singapore, which welcomed more than 2,000 participants from 114 countries. He also covered the Institute’s professional development programmes, AI initiatives, technical engagement and efforts to connect with practitioners, students and the wider profession. Treasurer Gary Teo presented the audited financial statements for FY2025/2026, which recorded a surplus of S$292,000 before tax.
The meeting saw Dr Ang Hak Seng elected to the Board of Governors, while Ong Wei Han, Sia Hwee Lay and Tay Lay Khim were re-elected for another term. David Toh continues as President, with Ong Wei Han and Daryl Pereira as Vice Presidents, Cherrie Ong as Secretary and Gary Teo as Treasurer.
The AGM also marked the completion of Norman Kuik’s six-year term on the Board. Certificates of appreciation were presented to him and other Governors in recognition of their contributions to the Institute and its work.
Another key moment was the conferral of Honorary Membership on Tan Boon Yen, in recognition of her exceptional service to IIA Singapore. She served as President from FY2015/2016 to FY2018/2019 and Immediate Past President from FY2019/2020 to FY2022/2023, and has been a member of the Board of Governors since 2009. Her contributions have also extended to the Membership & Certification Committee and the Nomination Committee.
President David Toh presented the inaugural Long Service Recognition, acknowledging staff for their years of service to IIA Singapore, including more than five years and 10 years of service. The evening concluded with a lucky draw, with three prizes given out to members.
As IIA Singapore marks its 50th anniversary, David’s message serves as a timely reminder of the work ahead: building on the Institute’s foundations while helping the profession adapt to a changing environment.
