IIA Singapore and KPMG Networking Event

On 21 January 2026, IIA Singapore partnered with KPMG Singapore to host the first networking event of the year at the KPMG Clubhouse, bringing together over 100 internal audit professionals from both public and private sectors. The event offered a forum to discuss how AI is shaping the internal audit profession and the capabilities internal auditors need to remain relevant as AI adoption expands.

The evening opened with welcome remarks from Richard Dyason, Executive Director of IIA Singapore, and Jonathan Ho, Partner and Head of Risk, Advisory, KPMG Singapore. The panel discussion, “AI Trends and Internal Audit: Looking Back at 2025, Forging Ahead in 2026”, was moderated by Gerard Toh, Partner, Risk Advisory, KPMG, and featured panellists Edmund Heng, Partner, Technology Risk, Advisory, KPMG; Nicholas Bok, Director, Internal Audit, Government Technology Agency & Group Chief Internal Auditor, Ministry of Digital Development and Information; and Nicholas Wu, Assistant Director, Internal Audit, Singapore Food Agency.

Discussions focused on the shift from experimentation to enterprise-wide adoption of AI, highlighting the need for robust governance, accountability, and trusted AI frameworks. The panel examined ways internal auditors can strengthen visibility, enhance controls, and build capabilities to support effective AI deployment. Interactive elements, including live polls, captured different perspectives and experiences, showing how AI can be integrated into audit practices.

Looking ahead, AI will continue to transform the internal audit profession, presenting both opportunities and challenges. Strengthening governance, enhancing oversight, and adapting audit practices to emerging technologies will be key as organisations navigate increasingly complex and data-driven environments.
