  • 2 hours of self-study via The IIA’s Learning OnDemand Platform (2 CPE)
Participants would be enrolled for this self-study programme to be completed within 30 days upon completion of the in-person training course.

INTRODUCTION
 
Are you an experienced user of the 2017 IPPF? Concerned about how to adapt your internal audit function’s best practices and methodologies to be in conformance with the new Global Internal Audit Standards? This course is just for you!

The Ethically Mastering the New Global Internal Audit Standards course is designed specifically for internal auditors seeking to enhance their knowledge and skills in alignment with the revised International Professional Practices Framework (IPPF) and Standards set forth by The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA). This course delves into the changes introduced to the IPPF and Standards, with a particular emphasis on the five domains that govern the internal audit profession. 

This unique two-part course is comprised of a 6 CPEs instructor-led training session intended to walk participants through the structure, changes in language, and new requirements to keep in front of mind as they prepare to adopt the revised IPPF.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND
 
This course will benefit experienced users of the 2017 IPPF who are preparing to adjust their internal audit practices and methodologies to be in conformance with the new Global Internal Audit Standards.
 
PREREQUISITE
 
Participants should come with knowledge of, and experience with, the auditing process under the 2017 IPPF conformance expectations.

LEARNING OUTCOMES
  • Examine the changes to The IIA's Global Internal Audit Standards and their significance for internal audit functions currently in conformance with the 2017 IIA Standards.
  • Determine what changes the internal audit function needs to consider for conformance across the five domains of the Global Internal Audit Standards.
  • Analyze ethical scenarios within the context of the revised standards and develop strategies to address them.
  • Enhance professional judgment and decision-making skills when faced with ethical dilemmas in the auditing field, based on conformance with the new Global Internal Audit Standards.

Revised IPPF Structure
  • Examine the structure of the Global Internal Audit Standards:
    • Domains.
    • Principles.
    • Standards.
      • Considerations for:
        • Implementation.
        • Evidence of Conformance.
  • Understand other IPPF components:
    • Guidance.
    • Topical Requirements.

Domain Review

  • Examine major changes in the 5 domains:
    • Domain I: Purpose of  Internal Auditing
    • Domain II: Ethics and Professionalism
    • Domain III: Governing the Internal Audit Function
    • Domain IV: Managing the Internal Audit  Services
    • Domain V: Performing Internal Audit Services
    • Determine what changes the internal audit function should consider for conformance.

Practical Implementation of the Global Internal Standards

  • Analyze the impact of the changes on auditing processes hoistically.
  • Align current internal audit practices with the new Standards.

Ethically Mastering the Standards (Self-Study Module)

  • Apply the standards to ethical scenarios.
  • Develop strategies for addressing ethical dilemmas in auditing, in the context of the Global Internal Audit Standards.

ABOUT THE TRAINER
 
 
Ms Melissa Aw Yong is a Certified Internal Auditor (IIA). She was also one of the Board of Governors of The Institute of Internal Auditors Singapore. She served on the Board of the Singapore Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, where she was the President for 3 years.

Currently, she heads an Internal Audit Division, which is also responsible for investigations. She gained valuable work experience in internal audit, risk management, compliance and corporate investigations with professional firms, MNCs, local conglomerates and government linked companies.

Melissa obtained her Bachelor of Accountancy from Nanyang Technological University. She received a Certification in Control Self-Assessment (IIA), is a Certified Fraud Examiner (ACFE) and a Chartered Accountant of Singapore (ISCA).

TERMS AND CONDITIONS

  • Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Contact person will be notified via email upon successful registration of the participants. The seminar details would be sent to the registered participants one week prior to the seminar.
  • Registration fee must be received prior to the date of the seminar.
  • Registered participants will be liable for the full registration fee in the event of non-attendance on the date of the seminar.
  • Cancellation must be submitted in writing to the Academy team at iia-academy@iia.org.sg at least 7 working days prior to the seminar and subject to IIA Singapore's approval. A processing fee of $100 per participant will be imposed for any cancellation. Substitutions will be permitted and conditions will apply. You may substitute a “like” person to attend the seminar in your place – for example, if you are an IIA Singapore member, you may substitute with another IIA Singapore member.
  • IIA Singapore reserves the right to revise the seminar programme as necessary.
  • IIA Singapore reserves the right to cancel or postpone the seminar should the minimum class size is not fulfilled. IIA Singapore will refund the full registration fee which has been paid.
  • IIA Singapore reserves the right to take videos and photographs during the seminar for use in IIA Singapore’s marketing collaterals and other publicity purposes.
  • Complimentary parking, if any, will be provided on a first-come-first-served basis.
